Gluten in foods can be a very serious condition for the demographic of people around the world who are sensitive to gluten. Foods with gluten in them like wheat products do not sit well with these people. That is why eating out can be a real challenge in these cases. But more and more restaurants are wizening up to this problem and are incorporating gluten-free items to their menu to reach out to this demographic.
The Outback Steakhouse is one such example. They have a regular menu with all their standard steaks and other items but in each section, be it appetizers, steaks, soups, salads or desserts, they have at least one item that is gluten-free. They haven't really added any new dishes but the menu gives instructions how patrons can make few modifications to the existing dishes to make them gluten-free. Patrons can also ask for a specialized gluten-free menu from the host's desk.
The Chili's chain of restaurants has also followed suit by suggesting a number of dishes that are free of gluten. Their menu has a wide selection of appetizers, soups, salads, steaks, beverages and bun-less burgers aimed to appease gluten-sensitive people. This menu also contains information pertaining to sides, sauces and salad-dressings that are free of gluten to help their patrons make an informed choice of meals. Apart from their gluten-free section their menu also has an allergy menu for those patrons that are allergic or sensitive to other ingredients. This information is also offered on their website.
Other restaurants that have gluten-free sections include P. F. Chang's Chinese Bistro, Sammy's Woodfire Pizza, Claim Jumper Restaurants, Uno Chicago Grill, Mama Fu's, Red Elephant Pizza and Grill and many others.
